Meditation Retreat

The monthly day retreat offers opportunity to set aside the busy life and daily routine, one day at a time, focusing on meditation practice and The Dharma. The retreat starts at 8 AM and ends around 5 PM. There will be several periods of sitting meditation and two Dharma Talks. Lunch is provided by the food the Sangha usually bring, and coffee and tea are available during breaks in the morning and in the afternoon.

Introductory Workshop

The workshop is designed to be a follow-up to the basic meditation instruction that we offer every Thursday evening. It will include a talk on meditation practice, then a few periods of meditation, and then a talk on bringing mindfulness and compassion into our daily lives. There is no charge for the workshop and we ask that people register in advance as space is limited.

Work Day

Buddhist training is based not on just receiving the spiritual nourishment that the Sangha offers us, but also our own willingness to cultivate gratitude and to be willing to find ways to give. Work Day is a way of giving our valuable time to help the Priory to flourish. It is the time when Sangha to come and help with temple cleaning, gardening, maintaining the grounds, or whatever projects might be going. The day starts at 9:30 AM, ends at 3 PM. Lunch is provided by Sangha members.

Calendar of Events
Sunday's schedule always has a 9:30 a.m. meditation period and a 10:30 a.m. Dharma talk. The listing for Sunday describes whether the 10:00 a.m. period is an additional meditation period or a service.

            Welcome Newcomers

If you are coming to the priory for the first time, even if you have practiced any form of meditation before, we encourage you to attend the “Meditation Instructions” on a Thursday beginning at 6:45 PM. Individuals may make an appointment by calling the priory if their schedules do not allow them to come on Thursdays. It is very helpful for newcomers to become familiar with our forms of meditation and what we teach at the priory, as well as our morning and evening ceremonial services. Please allow extra time for parking when you come to the Priory. While there is no parking lot at the Priory, there is ample parking on local streets and in front of the Temple building.
